I'm Sick!

Ok, I'm totally sick, and freaking out a little. I went to the Dr yesterday, they said I have an upper respiratory infection, no antibiotics, just nasonex, clartin d, mucinex dm. I feel way worse today then yesterday....come on!!!
I'm coughing so much, of course I'm worried that I'll irritate the rib, but this needs to end. At least it's taper time but I should be feeling strong! I was supposed to do 5 miles today and Thursday, needless to say I'm not running today, hoping to do something Thursday.
Any advice?

Hang tight, it'll work itself out. Missing your runs now really isn't going to matter much. You've done the training, you've gotten the long runs in, and you really kick ass with that 2 songs/1 Minute walk thing.

You'll do fine :)

Rest, rest and rest. Make sure you are taking in enough fluids. Hope you start feeling better soon. I agree with steven, you have put in the training, missing a couple of runs won't hurt.

I agree with D10 - rest and fluids!

It's taper, so if you miss some runs, you should be fine as you've already put in the quality training...the priority right now is to kick this thing.

Feel better!

I say skip the runs. My tapers are usually more of dead halts on running, and I've been okay, so I think the best thing for you would just be resting up! Chicken soup for protein and nutrients :)

Gosh...did you get sick from the race on Sunday? I hope not.

My advice is drink plenty of fluids, get enough rest. URIs just need time to go away. It shouldn't have any lingering effects on your marathon so I wouldn't worry about that.

Sounds like you're taking the meds to get better, sorry to hear that your sick though that really sucks.

Rest up, drink plenty of fluids and hopefully you'll feel stronger once it's out of your system. Take care

Someone recommended Zinc to me and the bottle has some hooey about the body's immune system - I would take some of that too.

I don't think I would dead halt because I would fear getting tight I would try to get out and do something (but only 2 miles maybe) once I stopped hacking up a lung.

Don't stress too much cause stress makes you more sick. Some OJ, some soup, and extra sleep.

Since you are in taper mode right now, I think that rest would be the best thing. You probably could run while battling with everything, but it might leave you weaker and take longer to recover. You've trained hard and I know you're going to crush the MCM!!!

I'm sorry. Stay hydrated and get some rest. I hope that you feel better real soon.
