After yesterday's 5K, I was worried about today's "long run" (which was supposed to be 6 miles for me). I met with my Team in Training group at the North Shore Trail in Pittsburgh at 7:30 and headed out from there. This was my first time on the NST, it was a beautiful trail, lots of shade, and there was even a nice breeze.
I had 1/2 a Gu on my way to the run, I figured that would help get me going! It seemed to work pretty good. Since I had to work today I only had an hour to run, fortunately that worked perfectly for 5 miles. I made it to the turn around at the 2.5 mile marker and took a 3 minute break for Gatorade. Up to that point I had to walk a few times, but I was amazed how good I felt after the 2 cups of Gatorade! Heading back was a million times easier! If I wasn't under the time constraint I definitely could have gotten in the 6th mile.
As soon as I was done I started in on a jug of Gatorade, the rest of my day was great! Nothing like yesterday!!! Yeah!! I was so worried after that happened!
Only bad thing - I ran in my new Sauconys - totally rubbed on the inside of my foot and big toe. I'm hoping it was really my socks, but I'm not sure. I'll try running in them again in a couple days and see what happens.

Nice job on the run. Staying hydrated is so important especially on hot days. Hope your shoe issues fix themselves. Maybe they just need a few runs to break them in.
Or maybe that particular model runs just a little short or narrow. Maybe different socks would help.
Hope your weather is good for running.
PS... Maybe today just wasn't camera day.
Nice job on your run! Welcome to the world of blogging! I agree, the rubbing in the shoe might just be due to the socks... what kind of socks are you wearing?
Nice run after the hot race on Saturday. Sounds like a nice trail.
great job on the run!! i die without gatorade now, it makes a huge difference!
